Friend Assessment

Addiction is treatable …

If you think a friend may have an addiction problem, whether or
not you are sure, follow this easy 3-step process:

  1. Fill out the questionnaire as honestly and accurately as
    possible.
  2. Fill out your contact details.
  3. Wait for our response.

What is an Addict?

Simply put, an alcoholic or a drug
addict
is a person whose life is controlled by the use of
alcohol or drugs. Some think of an addict only as the junkie in the
alley who sticks a dirty needle in his arm. This misconception
keeps many addicts from getting the help they need. In truth, drug
addicts come from all walks of life and every part of society.
There is no such thing as a typical addict. Many people begin their
habit with prescription drugs obtained from
well-meaning family doctors or social drinks with friends. Few
intend to become addicts. Whether the habit comes from using
alcohol, legal medications, or illegal substances such as crack
cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines and marijuana, the consequences
of addiction can be just as devastating and just as deadly.

Recognizing that there is a problem is the first step to
recovery.

If you know or think a friend is an alcoholic or a drug addict,
or suffers from adependency or substance
abuse
problem, they have to admit the problem before they
can begin making progress toward recovery. The following questions
and our advice may help to show the person concerned how their
drinking or drug-use has made life unmanageable, for themselves as
well as for you and your family.

Addiction is a disease: without recovery it takes the
addict to jail, to a mental institution, or to the
grave.

Before approaching the person concerned, please wait for
our response.
