Addiction is a family disease. The disease affects all those who have a relationship with an addict. Those closer to the addict can suffer trauma and if not treated correctly can lead to very serious long lasting health problems. A colleague can easy get caught up in the addict’s behavior, focusing entirely on the addict and taking little care of their own health.

At Rehab Guide we have assisted family and friends through the recovery process, providing information on interventions and services that can help you. We provide an e-mail therapy service for long term support and have extensive personal experience throughout our staff.

Intervention

If a family member or friend is resistant to help or in denial about the extent of their addiction it would be advised to facilitate a family intervention, whereby family and friends can get an opportunity to express their concerns jointly in a sensitive manner. It is important that this is carried out in a manner that lets the addict know you are on their side. It is also important to be aware that the responses you receive may frustrate you due their denial or lack of emotion.
