Drug and Alcohol Rehab in Christchurch

If you have found the urge to curb your addiction but don’t know where to start, then Rehab Guide can help.

It is tough enough facing your addiction without having to comb the land for a Rehab that can provide the support and care you need to get sober.

At Rehab Guide, we specialise in finding a Rehab clinic that can tick all the boxes required to get the treatment vital for long-term recovery.

How can Rehab Guide help me find a Rehab right for me?

Our team of professionals are available day and night to take your call, email or message through our online chat so that we can inform you of the rehabilitation programs in the Christchurch area.

We are happy to answer any questions you have on what to expect regarding the world of Rehab.

Once we have established your availability, we can talk you through the clinics in your local area and discuss what may be most suitable for your wants and needs.

What happens when I find a Rehab in Christchurch?

If you have found a Rehab you are happy with, we will confirm with the clinic available dates to arrange with you. We will look to get you in the clinic as soon as possible.

Rehab Guide understands how important it is to get into Rehab as soon as possible, as the urge to recover from addiction can be temperamental.

On the entry date, you will go to the Rehab in the morning and meet your support team. You will then meet about the ins and outs of your Rehab program and what you can expect from your stay in the coming weeks.

After your general meeting, you will be shown the different parts of the clinic; where you will be sleeping, where your counselling session will take place and where you can relax between sessions.

The first port of call will be a Medical Detox.

What can I expect from a Medical Detox?

You can expect your body to be stripped entirely of any addictive substances, giving you a new base to start your rehabilitation.

Detoxing can be dangerous when done alone. At Rehab Guide, we have experienced Doctors and Nurses who will make the process as safe and comfortable as possible. In addition, we use specific medications that are only prescribed based on your medical history and GP advice that can reduce withdrawal symptoms.

Is a Medical Detox necessary?

Yes. Without a Medical Detox, participating in the program will not be possible.

Once you have completed the Medical Detox, which on average, will take around a week to complete, you will begin your counselling sessions with one of our in-house counsellors. Over the weeks, you will come to know and trust your therapist, encouraging you to explore the reasons behind your addiction.

What kind of counselling will I get in Christchurch?

Initially, you will participate in one-to-one sessions to discuss how to deal with triggers and explore experiences that may have contributed to your addictive nature and how to deal with that going forward.

You will move on to Group sessions once you have settled into one-to-one sessions. Group counselling can help in building confidence and can also help with forming new friendships with your peers.

Is there anything to do in my spare time?

Yes. Our clinics in Christchurch have an array of different activities. These activities may include Yoga, gentle aerobics, meditation classes, and art therapy while having access to quiet spaces such as reading rooms and access to the grounds where you can have some time on your own to relax or think.

The availability of certain activities may vary from clinic to clinic, so it is worth asking one of our team members when discussing clinic options to avoid disappointment.

Can my family visit me while I’m in Rehab?

Yes. Rehab Guide understands that a visit from family members can boost morale. All we need is for you or a member of your family to arrange a date and time of arrival.

Can I keep my phone?

Phones are allowed in Rehab. Access to your phone can help you overcome difficult moments while in Rehab. Some of our clients will use their phones to play games, call friends and family or surf the internet to pass the time. Although there are boundaries for usage, phones are not permitted in counselling sessions or quiet spaces such as reading rooms or areas for meditation and contemplation.

What kind of support can I expect outside of Rehab?

Your support team will ensure you are prepared for life outside Rehab, which is imperative to Rehab Guide’s mission of helping you attain long-term sobriety. Our staff will be there to inform you of all the free aftercare services in Christchurch.

Most relapses happen within the first few months of leaving Rehab, so we recommend that all our clients remain in touch with staff and any friends they may have made during their stay and consistently arrange meet-ups and attend AA meetings and other relevant addiction services to reduce the chances of relapse.
